When graduates begin to plan a competency modeling project for their organizations, they often call us for advice or support. Sometimes they also want to have additional people from their organization trained to assist them in their efforts. But they prefer that they not have to wait to attend a future public session of our <a href=\"https:\/\/workitect.com\/building-competency-models-workshop\/\">Building Competency Models workshop<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An effective alternative that addresses both needs is on-site delivery of that workshop, combined with our <a href=\"https:\/\/workitect.com\/competency-workshop\/creating-technical-competencies-workshop\/\">Creating Technical Competencies workshop<\/a> (for organizations needing to include technical competencies in their competency models). This includes selecting the position(s) for the first models and creating a detailed plan to develop those model(s).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Developing and delivering a customized program to train your staff. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We deliver on-site training specifically designed to prepare your staff to develop the models identified in Step 1. And the length of the program will range from one to three days depending on the models to be developed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3: On-site or online consulting to assist with launching model development. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will remain on-site for one-two days to assist and coach your staff in conducting initial activities, e.g. panel sessions, structured interviews.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4: Ongoing consulting. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will be available for consulting advice as you progress with your development process.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"\" style=\"--fontsize: 24;line-height: 1.5\" data-fontsize=\"24\" data-lineheight=\"36px\"><b style=\"font-size: 20px\" data-fusion-font=\"true\">Implementation Support Segment<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">The manner in which you introduce and implement the concept of competencies within your organization will determine the effectiveness of your efforts. Installing competency models should be viewed as an organizational change initiative requiring deliberate actions to influence and get buy-in from the organization\u2019s managers as well as incumbents in the positions impacted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">A Workitect consultant will work with you to develop an implementation strategy and plan based upon the needs of your organization. The plan would address areas such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"> Creating the business case for competency modeling in your organization.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"> Identifying the first position(s) for which models will be developed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"> Identifying stakeholders in the initial models and a plan for influencing each<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"> Establishing a communications plan to support the development of competencies for the initial positions selected and for implementing competencies within the organization.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"> Determining the data gathering approaches to use for the first positions selected, including identifying who should be involved in each of the various activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: normal\"> Ongoing coaching as you progress through the steps in developing your first models.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal\">This support will amount to one or more days of consulting from our staff. These competencies are so job-specific that there are no competency dictionaries or libraries from which to draw competency definitions. This program covers a six-step process that includes how to collect and analyze the data needed to create technical competencies for inclusion in job competency models.
